The Department of Biological Chemistry started about 30 years back in 1986, as a result of rearrangement of the Department of Macromolecules. This Department has been making consistent efforts over the past 30 years to foster excellence in biochemical/biophysical research in an inter-/multi-disciplinary manner, in line with the national and international trends.Over the last decade, researchers have 1) established the importance of peptide-based soft nanomaterial and supramolecular self assemblies in Biomedicine, 2) developed nanoscale Biosensing/Bioelectronics/Imaging approaches and understanding, and 3) developed understanding on the biochemical and biophysical properties of Cancer and Immune cells.
