Prelude
The Department of Physical Chemistry is engaged in researches pertaining to elucidation of structure and dynamics of molecules in isolated states,solvated or bath-coupled states and in the organized assemblies. Efforts are made to maintain a synergistic interplay between experimental and theoretical research activity. In the past, the Department played a pioneering role in initiating and promoting polymer research in India. For the last two decades, the emphasis has shifted onto laser induced processes, spectroscopic studies, electronic structure, dynamics and statistical mechanics.
