About the School
The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences (SMCS) was set up within IACS, Kolkata in November, 2017 following the Council resolution in its meeting held on 16th September 2017. The School has started offering Integrated BS-MS, Integrated MS-PhD and PhD programs and is involved in research in various topics in Mathematics, Computer Science and Computational Modeling. The School is involved in arranging regular seminars and hosting visitors with complementary expertise from Universities and Institutes. The faculty members are involved in several National as well as International research collaborations.
Degrees offered:
1. Int. BS-MS in Mathematics and Computing (Major: Mathematics OR Computer Science) - 5-year program
2. Int. MS-PhD in Mathematics and Computing (Major: Mathematics OR Computer Science) - with possibility of joining as a PhD student after completion of MS degree (2-year program)
3. PhD in Mathematics OR Computer Science - 5-year funding term
Mission: The mission of our School is to foster students proficient in both Mathematics and Computer Science, preparing them for advanced research in these fields, as well as related interdisciplinary domains, while also ensuring their readiness for industry challenges in contemporary technological landscapes.
