Polymer-Solvent Complexes and Intercalates (POLYSOLVAT 15)

2-4th December, 2024

Polymer-Solvent Complexes and Intercalates (POLYSOLVAT) is a biennial international symposium discussing the structure, property, and applications of polymer-solvent complexes and intercalates. All earlier editions of POLYSOLVAT, including the maiden one at Meyrueis, France, back in 1996, were held in Europe, and the works presented at the conference were regularly published in the Journal of “Macromolecular Symposia.” POLYSOLVAT focuses on the formation mechanisms, the morphology, the molecular structure, and the properties of compounds formed between solvent molecules and/or small molecules with synthetic polymers, biopolymers, proteins, as well as supramolecular polymers. For the second time, this conference will be organized in India due to the overwhelming participation of Indian researchers in the above-mentioned field. IACS is the oldest scientific research institute in India devoted to practicing basic science in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. It was founded in 1876, much before independence came to the country, by a medical professional, Dr. Mahendra Lal Sircar. This is the place where Professor C.V. Raman worked (1907-1933) for his pioneering discovery of the Raman Effect, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. Prof. Meghnath Saha and Prof. S. N. Bose were also associated in different capacities with this premier institute of the country. The polymer research in India was first started at IACS in 1947 under the leadership of Prof. S. R. Palit. Since then, IACS has been a vibrant place for polymer research in India.
