OUR JOURNEY

It all started with a discussion group on astronomy where sessions happened every wednesday in a designated room in the campus. The proposal for an official club was started soon after. Formed in 2025, Niharika, the official Astronomy and Astrophysics club of IACS is the most active educational club of the institute, conducting various events promoting astronomy and other related subjects. With the help of the institute, we got out very own dobsonian telescope in the same year. The club now conducts several events - Integration bee, National space day to name a few. Regular telescopic observation sessions are also held and the discussion sessions continue to be an integral part of the club activities. Niharika is also one of the founder member clubs of the Indian synergy of Astronomy & Astrophysics Clubs (ISAAC) promoting astronomy outreach throughout the country organising talks by eminent professors.
