Applications are invited through e-mail for the appointment of Research Associate-I in the School of Physical Sciences, IACS. Essential Qualifications:A candidate should have a first or high second class M. Sc. degree in Physics with minimum average of 55% marks in B.Sc.(Hons.) and M.Sc. examination along with good overall academic record and has obtained Ph.D in Physics/Materials Science/Physical Sciencesor due to submit thesis within three months with considerable research experience by publications in peer reviewed journals preferably in the field of experimental Condensed Matter Physics. A candidate who is expected to submit his/her Ph.D. thesis within three months from the deadline for this application mentioned above may also apply with a separate declaration letter given by the candidate’s supervisor mentioning the above three-month time-limit. This has to be submitted by the candidate along with his/her application.
Desirable: A candidate having proven expertise via peer reviewed publications in the field of experimental Condensed Matter Physics is desirable.The candidate should have expertise in the fabrication of thin-films and heterostructures of magnetic, ferroelectric or multiferroic materials using sputtering or pulsed laser deposition techniques. He/she should have hands-on experience in structural, morphological and wide range of property characterization techniques for electrical, magnetic, dielectric, ferroelectric, piezoelectric and related alternative energy applications. Knowing how to fabricate nanoscale devices and to operate high precision electrical equipment and high vacuum chambers will be desired. Having basic computational skills in LabView are plus but optional for applying in this position.
Fellowship: ` 47,000/- (for RA-I) or ` 35,000/- (Bridge Fellow) per month + HRA as per rules of the Association.
i) A selected candidate holding a Ph.D. degree at the time of joining will receive the fellowship of the RA-I position from the date of joining.
ii) A selected candidate who is yet to receive Ph.D. degree may join only after the submission of his/her thesis within the time-limit mentioned earlier subject to documentary proof of the thesis submission. Such candidates will draw a fellowship amount as appropriate to a bridge fellowship as per the rules of IACS and will be eligible to receive the full RA-I fellowship from the award date of the doctoral degree, supported by documentary proof.
Tenure of Fellowship: 1 year from the date of joining as RA-I.
The position is purely temporary, and the candidate will not have any right to claim (explicit or implicit) any permanent post in the Institute. No TA will be admissible for attending the interview.
