Walk-in interview for the Indian citizens for the Research Associate-I position in the Technical Research Center, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science.

Duration: Initial appointment for Six months and may be extended for another six months depending upon the performance.

Essential Qualifications:

The candidate should have obtained his/her Ph.D. degree in the field of experimental condensed matter physics. Those who have submitted his/her thesis and waiting for the degree will also be considered. The candidates should be below 32 years of age and should have B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics with at least 60% of marks.

Desirable Expertise

Preference will be given to the candidates with research expertise in studying magnetic and transport properties of functional magnetic materials.

The following expertise is desirable in (a) sample preparation methods via solid state reaction route or flux method for single crystal, (b) structural characterizations using X-ray diffractionScanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDAX), Atomic force microscopy (AFM) for elemental analysis and surface microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), (c) electrical characterizations such as electrical resistivity and dielectric response in low temperatures, (d) magnetic characterizations using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometers and other magnetic property measurement systems and (d) thermal properties using heat capacity measurements in Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) down to 2 K with magnetic field. Knowledge on VISUAL BASIC, FORTRAN and LABVIEW software for interfacial programming is desired.

The position is purely temporary and the candidate will not have any right to claim (explicit or implicit) to any post in the Institute.
