Applications are invited for recruitment of Junior Research Fellows (JRF) in the Department of Theoretical Physics by April 30, 2018.
Essential Qualifications:
a) Candidates should have first or high second class M.Sc. degree in Physics with minimum average of 55% marks in B.Sc.(Hons.) and M.Sc. examination along with good overall academic record.
b) The candidate must have qualified in the NET/GATE/JEST examination. Those who are awaiting M.Sc. or equivalent result but have qualified in NET/GATE/JEST examination may also apply.
Research Area: Areas pursued by the members of Department of Theoretical Physics. This includes Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics, Mathematical Physics, Lattice gauge theory, Particle Physics Phenomenology, Gravitation & Cosmology and String theory, etc.
Fellowship : As per IACS/CSIR/UGC rules.
Age limit : Should be below 28 years on the date of interview. Age relaxation is
applicable as per Govt. rule.
Nationality : The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
Selection Procedure : Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of merit. In this regard, percentage of marks obtained in Bachelors & Masters (including particulars like specialization etc.), year of passing, present status/enrollment, qualification details of NET (type of NET whether UGC or CSIR)/GATE/JEST exams, including ranks and other distinctions should be mentioned in the application. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated via email and called for a written test followed by an interview of the qualified candidates, toward the final selection.
The position is purely temporary and a candidate will not have any right to claim (explicit or implicit) to any post in the Institute. No TA will be admissible for attending the interview.
Written Test & Dates of Interview:
Written test will be held on May 15, 2018(Tuesday) at 9:30 a.m. and the interview for the JRF positions will start from 2:30 p.m. on May 15, 2018 & from 9:30 a.m. on May16, 2018 respectively.
Application Procedure:
Applicants may send their applications to the HoD, Department of Theoretical Physics, IACS preferably via email containing attachments as mentioned in items (i) and (ii) shown below.

i) A filled in application proforma which may be downloaded from this link. The attachment file with filled in data should be in MS-Word format.
ii) A curriculum vitae (CV) in pdf format containing relevant information like date of birth, category, permanent address, contact phone/mobile number, email address as well as any other relevant details.
Application Deadline: Applications must reach on or before April 30, 2018.
Candidates who are yet to obtain the CSIR/UGC NET (December 2017) results may apply subject to their obtaining NET qualification for JRF.
i) preferably apply after receiving the recent NET results on or before the deadline as mentioned above,
or
ii) apply without the recent NET result and if qualified in the CSIR/UGC NET inform their said results via email to the above-mentioned address as soon as it becomes available.
