Our research group at IACS is mainly focused on studying supramolecular assembly of (i) π-conjugated chromophores and (ii) amphiphilic polymers. We are primarily interested in understanding structure-property relationship in H-bonding mediated self-assembly of single/multiple chromophoric systems in solution. We study role of structural nuances on chromophore assembly in molecular scale (H- and J-aggregates, photophysical properties) as well as in macroscopic domain (gelation, rheological behavior, morphology). We are also interested in exploring H-bonding mediated self-assembly of small molecular chromophore-conjugated amphiphiles in aqueous medium and implications in biological domain.
In the other area, we are engaged in making amphiphilic polymeric materials and study their supramolecular assembly and external stimuli-responsive disassembly behavior. More precisely we are looking at pH and redox sensitive polymeric micelles, vesicles and hydrogels for drug and gene delivery applications.
