Professor Amitava Patra, Dean (Administration) and Senior Professor in the School of Materials Sciences has been awarded the MRSI-ICSC Materials Science Annual Prize 2020.

Professor Ayan Datta in the School of Chemical Sciences has been awarded the B. M. Birla Science Prize for 2017 in Chemical Sciences and also the DST-SERB Distinguished Investigator Award (DIA) 2019.

Professor Amitava Patra, Dean (Administration) and Senior Professor in the School of Materials Sciences has been awarded the National Prize for Research in Chemical Spectroscopy and Molecular Structure. The Prize is awarded by the C.N.R. Rao Education Foundation and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research to recognize outstanding contributions in the area by scientists below the age of 55 years.

Professor Abhishek Dey, Professor in the School of Chemical Sciences has received the prestigious SBIC Early Career Award (http://sbichem.org/SBIC-Awards.aspx) for 2019 with the following citation:
"... Abhishek has a truly remarkable track record, with a very broad range of research activities that have had significant impact. His work on bioinspired catalysts combines advanced electrochemical techniques with spectroscopy, synthesis, and computational methods, to provide unprecedented insight into the reactivity of metalloporphyrins as well as other unique metalloenzymes. He has clearly earned international recognition as a leader and pioneer in his field and provides active service to the Indian and international bioinorganic chemistry communities".

Professor Amitava Patra, Senior Professor in the School of Materials Sciences has been awarded an honorable position of Micro Fellow at the ITMO University, St. Petersburg, Russia as a part of their Fellowship and Professorship Program.

Dr. K D Mallikarjuna Rao, Scientist D in TRC and affiliated to the School of Applied and Interdisciplinary Sciences has received the SRM ICONN Young Researcher Award in the International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICONN 2019) organized by Department of Physics and Nanotechnology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, in association with Shizuoka University-Japan and NCTU-Taiwan, GNS-New Zealand, ACCMS, CSIR-NPL-India and IET.

Dr. Ipsita Saha, a former student of Prof. Dilip Kumar Ghosh at the School of Physical Sciences has been awarded the Rahul Basu Memorial Award of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences for her thesis (completed at IACS under Prof. Ghosh's supervision).

Professor Sourov Roy, Senior Professor in the School of Physical Sciences has won the APS-IUSSTF Professorship Award -2018 in Physics, being among the only two Professors selected from India and among the four selected for the year.

Ishita Rehman, PhD student (SRF) of Dr. Benu Brata Das has been selected for the "Best Poster Award" in the SINP international Cancer Meeting: SINP international Cancer Meeting: "SINP school of Epigenetics" held at the Saha Institute Of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata.

One of the papers from IACS, published by Dr. Arnab Das in Physical Review E (PRE), has been selected as a PRE Anniversary Milestone. Since 1993, PRE has published 50,000 papers through its 25 years of existence. From those, they have selected 25 papers as anniversary Milestones, one for each year. The particular paper has been selected as the Milestone of 2014.

Professor Surajit Sinha, Professor in the Department of Organic Chemistry and his research group for their promising invention of morpholino based oligos. An invention that has huge possibility in the drug industry, and for the benefit of society and mankind at large. The work has been granted US Patent (No. US 9,914,745 B2 dated March 13, 2018.

Miss Nibedita Nandi, a research scholar under Professor Arindam Banerjee in the Biological Chemistry Department, IACS has received the best poster award at the 20th CRSI (Chemical Research Society of India) National Symposium in Chemistry held at Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam during February 2-5, 2017. The award was instituted by Prof. G. Mehta.

Ms. Hiya Lahiri (DST-INSPIRE Fellow) working under Prof. Rupa Mukhopadhyay in the Department of Biological Chemistry, was selected as one of the representatives from India to attend the 9th HOPE Meeting with Nobel Laureates by the Department of Science and Technology (DST, India) and Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS), and was nominated as "JSPS HOPE Fellow" by the JSPS

Heartiest Congratulations to Professor Narayan Pradhan for receiving "The Young NanoScientist India Award" for the year 2017, presented biennially by Oxford Instruments to a Indian scientist, younger than 45 years.

Manish Debnath, a PhD student (DST-Inspire-JRF) working under Professor Jyotirmayee Dash in the Department of Organic Chemistry was selected as one of the representatives from India to attend the 8th HOPE Meeting with Nobel Laureates by the Department of Science and Technology (DST, India) and Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS). On successful participation, he has been nominated as "JSPS HOPE Fellow" by the JSPS.
