Magnetic and Electronic Phenomena in correlated Electron system


The group is involved in the experimental investigations of solids having strong electron-electron correlation.  In a crystalline solid, the effect of electron correlation has an important effect on its physical properties. The mutual interplay between charge, spin and the orbital moment of electrons in a crystalline solid can give rise to a plethora of fascinating events. The group primarily focuses on solids containing d or f group elements. Various experimental tools, such as magnetization, electrical transport, calorimetry, neutron scattering, muon spin relaxation, and x-ray absorption spectroscopy, are used to understand these novel materials.

For the preparation of  solid samples, we use arc melting furnace, resistive furnace, two-zone furnace (for single crystal) etc.

We have lab based facilitates for the measurement of physical properties of the samples where electrical transport, dielectric and polarization measurement are performed.

Closed cycle refrigerator for low temperature physical properties  measurement with the attachment of a  electromagnet along with the view of measurement panel.
